Here's a potential way to reduce the digg effect by disseminating the sudden influx of traffic through many alternative sources or cached pages. Link with images:

digg effect is unique to the digg community. I have been digged usually means that the server is going down or more money. sorry no vote.

This would be great for us Digg/Wikipedia contributors who are always let down by shoddy sources to relevant stories on Digg.
